The History

Rudry Parish Hall was opened in 1957, it came about due to the commitment of local people who wanted to have somewhere they could gather for community events. It was initiated by the Home Guard who had nowhere to base themselves or practice drills. The land was gifted to the community and then over the following years individuals gave a shilling a week out of their wages to save the money to build the Hall.

Various articles have been written about the Hall’s history and some of them are here. If you have any memories or stories you wish to share, you may have been a member of the ‘once seen but NEVER forgotten’ Aerobics Team of 1994 who gave a much talked about display at the annual Country Fair or perhaps you witnessed the great Dog Fight of 2007? Whatever the story, memory or indeed photograph we’d love to hear from you.
